A leading bulge bracket investment bank partnered with DNA Growth to conduct a deep dive valuation and competitive analysis of the global cannabis industry. The goal was to create a multi-variable valuation model and a high-level executive dashboard to present directly to the Country Head for strategic decision-making.

The engagement involved:

  • Assessing sector-specific macroeconomic trends
  • Building a comparable company analysis (comps) model
  • Evaluating market positioning, competitive intelligence, and growth levers
  • Designing a robust, investor-ready valuation framework for internal strategy teams

Given the industry’s volatility and evolving regulatory landscape, the bank needed a data-driven, agile model with rich visual outputs that could guide investment committee decisions and support future M&A discussions.

The Solution

DNA Growth delivered a custom-built multi-variable DCF and comps-based valuation model, integrated with real-time data flows and supported by Power BI dashboards. The model allowed interactive scenario testing, revenue benchmarking, and key industry ratios and KPIs visualization.

Key components included:

  • Advanced Excel modeling using Power Query and macros
  • Sensitivity and stress testing frameworks
  • Industry comps segmented by market cap, product line, and regional exposure
  • Visual dashboards for faster insight delivery to C-suite and boardroom-level executives

We also integrated strategic business insights, market intelligence, and valuation trends into an intuitive format, enabling rapid comprehension and action by non-technical stakeholders.
